How to create Roaming Profile and Mandatory Profile
To Create a Roaming Profile :
Step 1 : Create a User in Server:- Goto Start Menu-->Administrative Tools-->Active Directory Users and Computers.
Step 2 : Select Domain (Explore it)-->Goto user(Explore it)-->Create a User Inside The User List.
Step 3 : Right Click on User-->Select New-->Select User.
Step 4: Go to Server-->Create A Folder in Drive with User Name-->Right Click on Folder-->Goto User Properties-->Sharing Tab-->Then Click on Share.
Step 5: Share this folder with Everyone-->Click on Add.
Step 6: After Adding Everyone Set the Read Write Permission.
Step 7: Click on Done.
Step 8: Again Go to Start Menu-->Administrative Tools--> Active Directory User And Computers.
Step 9: Explore the Domain-->Explore User-->Select The Newly Created User-->Right Click on it-->Select Properties.
Step 10: After Selecting Properties-->goto Profile Tab-->In Profile Path Enter the Server Name, Shared Folder Name, User Name.
► SYNTAX :- \\SERVER NAME\FOLDER NAME\%USERNAME%
► Goto Client 1 Site-->Logon With the Roaming Profile User.
► Create Some Data On Screen, Change Desktop Settings-->Logoff From Client 1.
► Now, Goto Client 2 Site-->Logon With the Same User.
► Same desktop will appear with same data and settings.
To Create a Mandatory Profile :
Step 1 : Go to Server Site--> Select the Same Shared Folder (Which was Used for creating the Roaming profile).
Step 2 : Open the Folder, There will be one auto generated folder with the Logon Name.
Step 3 : Open the Folder-->Go to Organize-->Select Folder and Search Options.
Step 4 : Go to View Tab-->Check the Radio Button ‘Show Hidden Files Folders and Drives’-->Un-Check the Hide extensions for Known Files Types-->Un-Check the Hide Protected operating System Files.
Step 5: There will be a file with name (NTUSER.DAT). Select the file and change the ownership of file from user to administrator for changing the extension (.DAT TO .MAN).
Step 6: Right Click on File-->Rename the Extension (.DAT to .MAN). Then give the permission and ownership back to the user.
Step 7: Now Go to Client1 Site: Login with the User ID. Change the wallpaper on Desktop.
Step 8: Logoff from Client1.
Step 9: Login from the Client2 from the same Domain.
